The WGC is a space for everyone.
We provide specific support for students whose gender identities and sexual orientations are traditionally marginalized in our culture–thus focusing on female-identified, transgender, gender-nonconforming, and LGBTQ+ identified students.
Cisgender men are encouraged to be a part of the center as advocates, allies, activists, friends, and supporters. We welcome discussions and opinions, and we do not tolerate bigotry, racism, or hate of any kind. We strive to meet people where they are, encouraging healthy, inclusive, and friendly language and behavior.
Three Educational Themes
Empowerment & Leadership Development
We host programming that aims to empower women and celebrate their accomplishments. We help women on our campus nurture confidence, bravery, and self advocacy skills.
Gender Identity & Sexual Orientation
Serving as an inclusive and comforting space for Champlain’s LGBTQ+ community, the Women’s & Gender Center provides a platform for discussions and support.
Sexual Violence Awareness & Prevention
The Women’s & Gender Center is committed to educating the community about bystander intervention, sexual violence prevention, and survivor resources.
The Community Space
The Women’s & Gender Center is a bright, vibrant, safe space for Champlain College students to gather, enjoy each other’s company, and learn.
