CHAMP

Description

CHAMP is a student-run organization that plans and hosts exciting and spirit-filled events on campus each semester. All students are welcome to participate in CHAMP meetings and to volunteer as staff for CHAMP events. As a member of CHAMP, you are an integral part of the planning process–from brainstorming ideas to decorating and event execution. This club serves as a driving force for student involvement and engaging events! Our biggest celebrations of the year include: Spirit Week, the Halloween Dance, Late-Night Breakfast, the Snowball Dance, and Spring Meltdown.

CHAMP meets Monday nights in the Fireside Lounge at 8:30pm

Student Activity Programmers

Description

Student Activity Programmers (SAP) host multiple events each week to encourage social interactions and bonding within our community. These events are open to all students and are almost always free to participate in. Some program highlights include bingo, trivia, and free bowling nights, as well as crafts, movie nights, or themed food nights. If there is a fun event you want to see on campus, let us know and we can make it happen!

Intramural Sports

Description

Join a community of enthusiastic students who share a passion for sports and friendly competition. Our Intramural Sports are run through the Office of Student Engagement and offer a diverse range of activities that cater to athletes of all levels and interests. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just looking to try something new, this is a great opportunity for you.

Dodgeball

• Mondays, 8:30–10:00 PM
• Argosy Gymnasium
• Drop in format, come with friends or by yourself. Compete all night or just for a few games. Dodgeball can be a great stress reliever!

Soccer

• Tuesdays, 7:00–8:30 PM
• Argosy Gymnasium
• Drop in format. Futsol rules when indoors, but there will be outdoor games at local fields at times as well.

Floor Hockey

• Wednesdays, 5:00–6:30 PM
• Argosy Gymnasium
• Drop in format. All equipment provided!

Basketball

• Wednesdays, 7:30–10:00 PM
• Argosy Gymnasium
• League Format. Sign up at the beginning of the semester, and play with the same team every week. A champion will be crowned at the end of the year!

Volleyball

• Wednesdays, 6:30–9:00 PM
• Argosy Gymnasium
• League Format. Sign up at the beginning of the semester, and play with the same team every week. A champion will be crowned at the end of the year!

Orientation Leader

Description

Give that warm Champlain welcome to our new students!

Orientation Leaders (OLs) are student leaders who play a HUGE role in welcoming the incoming class to Champlain during New Student Orientation in August. Help build a sense of community and belonging among first-year and transfer students. OLs lead events such as the Lake Champlain boat cruise, bowling party, and fun in the Student Life Center, featuring The Grind. OLs also head smaller orientation groups to guide students through the first days of college. Serve as an approachable resource and provide information to new students about campus and student life, where to find campus resources, and where to go for orientation events. Celebrate the beginning of a new chapter with our new Champlain College students!

There is also an opportunity for OLs to welcome new students during spring New Student Orientation in January.

Orientation Leaders are paid and selected through an application and interview process. Applications open at the beginning of spring semester. Be on the lookout for information!

Student Government Association (SGA)

Description

The Student Government Association (SGA) offers opportunities for leadership development, involvement, and personal growth within Champlain College. Whether you’re looking to start a club, an on-campus initiative, or become a member, SGA is here for you! Located off of Fireside Lounge, the Hearthstone (SGA hub) is available for any and all students looking for a place to study, hang out, or have questions answered about the SGA from our Representatives.

Each member of SGA is available during office hours– located on the SGA website. The SGA also holds House of Representatives meetings every Wednesday from 3:00 to 4:30 PM in CCM 424. These meetings are open to any student, faculty, or staff who would like to attend. If you can’t join us but are still interested in knowing what happens at these meetings, you can view the monthly minutes on the Archives page.

If you are interested in starting a club of your own, it requires one Club Head, nine interested current Champlain students, and one faculty advisor. In addition, all club activities must align with the College’s Student Code of Conduct.
