Donna Swartwout

Biography

Donna Swartwout has worked on 7 different college campuses over the past 40 years. She is currently serving at the Interim Director for the Office of Accessibility. Donna has served in a variety of roles including Director of Residential Life at Colgate University, Associate VP for Student Affairs/Dean of Campus Life at Merrimack College. During her 7 years at Champlain College, she has been the Director of Community Standards, and a Wellbeing & Success Coach. At the heart of all her positions, regardless of title, is trying to do what is best for students. Some days have been more successful than others.

Madison West

Biography

Madison (Maddie) joined Champlain College in 2017 as an AmeriCorps VISTA at the Women’s and Gender Center (WGC). There, she discovered a passion for mentoring and supporting college students. Following two years of service at the WGC, she joined the Library as a Circulation Coordinator. In 2021, Maddie transitioned to the Office of Accessibility. As Assistant Director, she strives to provide successful access and services to students with disabilities.

Maddie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Gender Studies from Saint Michael’s College and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Vermont. During her time at UVM, Maddie served as a Graduate Research Assistant for the Vermont Attorney General’s Office. In her free time, Maddie enjoys biking, fishing, reading, baking, and spending time with friends and family. She lives in St. Albans with her husband and two cats.

Raelyn Gladstone

Biography

Raelyn is passionate about working closely with students to ensure that all their needs are met when they come through the doors of Champlain College. Understanding how students define their own success and providing them with the tools they need to achieve their goals is part of the job she really enjoys. She also works hard to ensure that all students learn what self-advocacy looks like for them. She is a graduate of the University of Vermont with a B.A. in Sociology, and she also pursued a minor in Special Education. Staying in the Burlington, VT area was a no-brainer because of all the opportunities for growth and development, both personally and professionally. Before coming to Champlain College in 2023, she had worked with students of all ages. From preschoolers to college students, her experience working with students is comprehensive. The desire to work with students utilizing the services of the Office of Accessibility came from the knowledge that education is not always accessible to students, and she wants to make that less of a reality for our students.
