From librarians to circulation assistants, SMART Space tutors to academic coaches, all faculty and staff at the Miller Information Commons are enthusiastic and ready to support you. The library offers assistance in various ways: You can speak to a library employee in person during our weekly hours or set up an appointment with a librarian at any time on our website. Building a Library Community
The library fosters a community-centered environment by hosting a number of events throughout the year with the goal of creating a feeling of connection and engagement throughout Champlain College. We are the home of annual staples in the Champlain community such as our Chili Cook-off (every Fall) and Pi(e) Day (March 14th).

In the Classroom…
We are committed to helping students become skilled and effective information users, and our teaching happens not just in the library, but also directly in the classroom. Librarians are embedded in Champlain College’s Core curriculum, seeing traditional undergraduate students several times throughout their academic careers. With Technology & Information Literacy situated as a required College Competency, library instruction takes place across the curriculum in both in-person and online settings.

And Online, Too!
The library is not just a beautiful building, it is available online, anytime. Navigate our extensive online research library using our Discovery tool ChampSearch, or use a tutorial or research guide to learn about a specific skill based on your needs. Not sure where to start? Book an appointment with a member of the library’s Reference Team. Our Google Meet appointments are particularly popular with Champlain College Online students, as well as on-campus students learning from the comfort of their dorm rooms.

Celebrating History and Culture
Through Special Collections, the library is committed to recognizing and celebrating local history and culture. The library’s archival collection allows the Champlain community to directly interact with information from the past. Special Collections is also actively engaged in documenting and collecting materials that reflect contemporary experiences, including conducting oral histories about student and employee experiences.

Diversity in Collections
The Miller Information Commons features rotating book displays dedicated to culturally-relevant topics and themes housed on the first floor of the MIC on the counter spaces near the circulation desk. Many of our displays seek to highlight and center diverse experiences and authors traditionally underrepresented in academic libraries and higher education.
