An American flag raised in front of a building on Champlain's campus

Champlain College has been designated a Military Friendly School for its commitment to assisting military service members and veterans in achieving their educational goals. The Yellow Ribbon Scholarship provides a significant tuition waiver for veterans and their dependents above and beyond the funds provided through the GI Bill.

Champlain strives to be an institution that harnesses the productive power of difference and fosters a community that embraces the hard-earned skills and experience of our nation’s veterans as they transform their valuable life experiences into academic and professional success.

In addition to tuition assistance, Champlain provides eligible veterans with credit for their training and life experiences. We also offer programs that are relevant to members of the Armed Forces including computer forensics, criminal justice, communication and media, and business. Our faculty and staff are ready and willing to help service members and veterans succeed and are appreciative of the service and perspective these students bring to the classroom.

Quick Facts:

  • In 2023, 18 students received $169,558 in Yellow Ribbon scholarship support.
  • The Yellow Ribbon scholarship covers the full cost of a Champlain College education for qualifying veterans and their dependents, less contributions from the VA through the Post 9/11 GI Bill.
The Yellow Ribbon program has turned an impossible scenario into something doable. It creates opportunities rather than dead ends. My wife and I are both able to pursue our education while maintaining our family, and after graduation we will go on to careers that allow us to help shape and educate the next generation.
