Abertay Champlain Application

Abertay is right at the heart of Dundee, combining all the advantages of a close-knit campus with the buzz of city centre life.  Being one of the safest cities in Scotland, it is also one of the least expensive for students choosing to spend their time abroad. The campus itself is an eclectic mixture of everything from the Edwardian Old College to their outstanding and award-winning Bernard King Library.   • Students pay as if they are at Champlain for tuition and maintain institutional financial aid. Students may qualify for an adjustment to their financial aid package for abroad costs once accepted. Students will also receive a healthcare premium through Champlain while abroad, but will pay local prices for housing, food and transportation. Pell Grant recipients are strongly encouraged to apply to the Gilman grant, a scholarship that provides an average of $4000 to selected Pell grant eligible students to study abroad.

  • Abertay offers many classes relevant to different majors, dividing them into Pathways incoming students choose. A full semester at Abertay is 60 SCQF credits or 3 modules, which equals 15 North American credits. Students applying must choose a relevant pathway for their major. Champlain students take 1-2 modules or courses (40 credits) from their pathway.. Champlain students also take one course from a different pathway to satisfy their Core requirements. Champlain College must approve courses for students to receive credit, and any unapproved courses or modules taken do not guarantee institutional credit.

  • Students are usually housed in Parker House, Meadowside Court, or the Lyon Street Terrace student accommodations located all within walking distance of the city campus, each of their apartments offer an overlook on dynamic city living within the varying complexes where students will be offered a varying degree of amenities depending on the building. Both single and shared style living is offered with students having a multitude of choices in their search for housing. Students are guaranteed accommodations at Abertay’s on-campus housing if applying before the deadline, students will still be able to apply after the deadline but accommodations will not be guaranteed. See Abertay’s Accommodations.

  • Abertay’s academic calendar is very similar to ours making a semester abroad easy to fit in and stay on track of our academic year. Their fall semester begins in September and ends in January, with their Spring Semester starting in January and ending in May.

    Application deadlines are: Fall 2025 and Spring 2026: March1, 2025.
