She is passionate about developing innovative and effective learning opportunities which utilize adult learning theory, brain science, and proven training methodologies. She enjoys sailing, kayaking, hiking, and is involved in community theater.

Holly Steeves

Biography

Holly Steeves worked for more than twenty-six years as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) before retiring at the end of 2021. She began her career in the Los Angeles Division working multi-million-dollar financial crimes, before transferring to the Boston Division where she began her journey into the work of cybercriminal activity. Working cybercrime launched her focus into digital forensics and lead to her obtaining FBI Digital Forensic Certification(s) (as well as numerous others) and the title of Special Agent ““ (Digital) Forensic Examiner. She spent the last fifteen years of her career in this role as well as the role of Computer Analysis Response Team (CART) Coordinator, responsible for running a small computer forensic laboratory. She now works as a Digital Forensics Consultant and teaches for a forensic software company.

Laura Stevens

Biography

Dr. Laura L. Stevens has been active in higher education for over 20 years and has developed content for traditional, blended/hybrid, weekend, and online courses for the Social Sciences/Humanities. Her areas of focus include Humanities (Intro), Communications, Fine Arts, World Religions/Global Mythologies, and Art History. She has developed curriculum and assessments (as well as faculty training) with publishers to create e-Content and textbook support materials.

Her personal philosophy is “Success is measured by the quality of experience that makes you the person of your fullest potential.”

Robyn Stratton-Berkessel

Biography

Robyn’s first career was as a Teacher-of-English-as-a-second language (ESL) in the workplace in her homeland Australia. She loved the meaning and purpose of that contribution. She designed many programs under the umbrella of English for Specific Purposes such as English for Engineers, English for Medical Professionals, English for Administrators.

Second career was a move to human and organization development consultant and practitioner offering whole systems design and leadership at all levels. Her portfolio includes a range of frameworks, methods and tools, including Appreciative Inquiry, World Cafe, and Open Space Technology so members of the system can say “we did this ourselves.” Organizations include “Big 4” management consulting, financial and professional services, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, retail, education, local government agencies and not-for-profits.

Since 2016, Robyn has returned to her first love, teaching, and is now affiliated with Champlain College, as an adjunct faculty teaching in the disciplines of human and organization development.

Todd Strunce

Biography

Todd Strunce is a dynamic Information Security Professional with 30+ years solid experience in Cyber Security, Digital Forensics, eDiscovery, Vulnerability Assessments, Security Orchestration Automation Response (SOAR) and customer service with a strong expansive security skill set who aims to respond to new challenges within the security enterprise. As an adjunct professor he enjoys teaching classes related to Cyber Security and Information Technology for the graduate level to give back to the next generation of students to become successful in their careers.

Rebecca Swem

Biography

Becky earned her Master’s of Education from SUNY Potsdam and Master’s in Student Affairs Counseling from SUNY Plattsburgh. Becky’s professional path has centered around advocacy, identity, and supporting students holistically. She is passionate about supporting student success and partnering with students along their individual career and academic journeys. Becky’s background has included teaching in K-12 settings, in an identity center, advising, and admissions. In her free time, Becky enjoys hiking year round in the mountains of the northeast.

Tiffany Taves

Biography

Tiffany has spent 30++ years in the field of education, establishing academic programs, institutional policy, and procedure, designing curriculum, faculty development, and instructing classes. In that time, she has worked to help institutions and organizations understand strategies to continue growth and expansion. She has extensive leadership experience in relationship and team building; hiring professional, sales and technical staff; strategic planning; change management, systems, and policy; implementing budget performance and accountability systems; and creating effective professional development programs.
In her time teaching at the college level, she has had the pleasure of teaching at Quincy College, Massasoit Community College and the Boston Architectural College where she taught Writing 1 (Expository Writing), Writing 2 (Research Writing), Introduction to Literature, American Literature, British Literature, Western Civilization, Shakespeare, and the first-year seminar for entering architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture students. At Champlain College Online, she has taught: CREW I (Writing 1), CREW II (Writing 2), Writing in the Workplace, Introduction to Literature, Shakespeare, Introduction to Fiction, Rhetoric: Using Evidence from Sources, The Writing Process, and Survey of Fiction. Edward Thorndike

Biography

Ted comes to Champlain College after over 12 years of experience in the mental health and education fields. Most recently he served in an operations and academic advising capacity at an online university. Ted is passionate about serving the non traditional student population and motivating them to reach their full potential. When not working Ted can be found skiing, hiking, gravel biking, or roaming the woods with his dog, Cody.

Tracy Tuten

Biography

Tracy L. Tuten, Ph.D. is an expert in marketing strategy, digital and social media marketing, marketing research, and branding. She is the author of several books including Social Media Marketing and Principles of Marketing for a Digital Age, published by Sage Publications. Her research has appeared in such journals as Psychology & Marketing, the Journal of Business Research, and Social Science Computer Review, among others. Dr. Tuten has served consultant and guest professor roles internationally and in the United States with organizations that include Dell, Samsung Electronics, Royall & Company, the Martin Agency, and the NFL Coaches Association. She has twice served as a Fulbright Scholar and has won national and institution-wide awards for teaching excellence.

Gary Washburn

Biography

Gary earned his Master’s in Professional School Counseling at Sage Graduate School in Troy, NY. Gary has been working in Higher Education for 15 years. Gary is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in enrollment management, academic affairs, student affairs, business development, and relationship building. He has demonstrated expertise in building highly efficient operations and teams, ensuring a seamless student experience. In his downtime, he enjoys being on the golf course as much as possible and spending time with his family and friends.

Timothy Wedge

Biography

Currently an Associate Professor of Practice at Defiance College and adjunct faculty at Champlain College, Tim Wedge has been working in the field of information technology for more than 30 years, and has been in the field of computer forensics / high tech crime for more than 20 years. His non-fiction articles and papers have been published in “The Informant,” “DFI News,” and “The Journal of Digital Forensic Science and Law.” His poems and short stories have been published in “Progeny,” “Nascence: The 2014 Word Branch Publishing Science Fiction Anthology” and “Moments, Moods, and Memories.” He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (summa cum laude) and a Master’s in Criminal Justice.

After retiring from the U.S. Navy in 2001, he was a computer crime specialist at the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) for more than 8 years, during which he developed and delivered more than a dozen basic, intermediate and advanced courses in computer forensics and online investigation, and taught more than three thousand law enforcement officers. Through NW3C’s partnership with Purdue University, he was also visiting faculty at Purdue University from 2005 to 2009, teaching several computer forensics courses, and collaborating with Purdue faculty on several computer forensic research projects. He also conducted computer forensic examinations for U.S. Military Intelligence, where he encountered instances of human trafficking. This resulted in a profound shift in his career goals to direct his talents to the fight against human trafficking. He has been invited to present on the subject in a variety of forums in such diverse places as Fairmont, West Virginia, and Doha, Qatar. He currently teaches Digital Forensic Science at Defiance College, in Ohio, where he is the program manager for the DCs DFS program, and online courses in Digital Forensic Science for Champlain College, and University of California, Irvine. When not actually teaching, or pursuing research opportunities to develop new methods for detecting and investigating human trafficking cases, he is working on short stories, and his upcoming novel, “Marti Martinez and the Fishbowl Girls.”

Dave White

Biography

Professor White dedicated 30 years to a career in law enforcement (local, state, and federal). He earned a Master’s degree in Behavioral Science (Negotiation, Conflict Management, and Dispute Resolution) from California State University, Dominguez Hills, a Bachelor’s degree (Criminal Justice) from Chapman University, and two Associate’s degrees (Criminal Justice and Business Administration).

During his law enforcement career, Professor White served as a sworn Police Detective (Newport Beach Police Department), District Attorney Investigator (Orange County District Attorney’s Office), and 8.5 years as an Operations Manager and FBI-Certified Digital Forensic Examiner assigned to a highly-specialized FBI Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory (RCFL). During this time, he was afforded the opportunity to manage several teams of computer forensic examiners and administrative staff, who were responsible for conducting comprehensive digital forensic investigations and providing detailed examination results to stakeholders (e.g., Detectives, Investigators, and Special Agents) on cases involving digital forensics, mobile forensics, audio/video forensics, network intrusion, cybercrime, and malware analysis.

Previous to the FBI Task Force assignment, he worked several specialized details to include:
– Patrol Officer
– Mountain Bike/ATV Officer
– Field Training Officer (FTO)/Master Officer IV
– Motor Officer
– Helicopter Tactical Flight Observer (TFO)
– Detective (Economic and High-Tech Crimes)

* In 2004, he built, maintained, and managed the Newport Beach Police Department’s “state-of-the-art” Computer Forensics Laboratory and conducted the department’s digital forensic and cybercrime investigations.

– Operations Manager (FBI Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory)

For the last 25 years, Professor White focused on work in the fields of Digital Forensics and Cybercrime, specifically smartphone forensics, cybersecurity, and incident response (IR). He received extensive formal training in these disciplines and have acquired 50+ technical certificates (e.g., CBE, CCO, CCPA, CICP, CompTIA A+ / Network+ / Security+, CSP, EnCE, FBI CART / CICP, GCFE, GCIH, INFOSEC, vendor certifications, etc.), from attending 150+ formal training courses, conducted 20,000+ hours of practical “hands-on” examination of digital forensic artifacts, and testified as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on numerous occasions (Superior Court and before a Grand Jury). After his law enforcement career, Professor White made the transition from public sector into private sector to serve clients as a “trusted advisor” with their vast cybersecurity needs.

Shawn Willis

Biography

Shawn Rooney Willis lives in Grand Isle, Vermont with her husband, Michael, and two Australian shepherd dogs that keep her actively walking and hiking daily. She has been a Science educator for 30 years, teaching in Vermont and also internationally in Zurich, Switzerland. Shawn has previously worked for Champlain College’s Continuing Professional Studies in the role of Associate Director for TAP (Teacher Apprenticeship Program).

Shawn’s studies in Biology began at the University of Vermont where she earned a Bachelor’s degree. After working in the field of nutritional biochemistry and environmental science, she decided to return to school. She attended Trinity and St. Michael’s College where earned a Master’s degree in Science education.
Shawn began teaching Science 140, “The Biology of Nutrition and Fitness” for CCO in 2022.

Mark Wolzenburg

Biography

Mark Wolzenburg is an E-learning and Curriculum Manager at 4imprint, a promotional products company based in Oshkosh, WI. His main duties include the creation and teaching of online training courses, leadership development, and curriculum development. Mark has been an instructor in the Champlain College online program since 2001, teaching a variety of courses such as Critical Inquiry The Writing Process, Interpersonal Communication, and Modern American Social History. In addition to teaching at Champlain College, Mark also used to teach at Vermont Technical College and the Community College of Vermont before relocating to Wisconsin in 2007.

Mark currently holds a master’s degree in English and History from the University of Wuppertal, Germany. His postgraduate research focuses on urban experience, in particular how literary characters perceive their urban environments.

In his free time, Mark enjoys to spend time with his family, which includes his wife Robin and his children Estelle, Finn, Andrew and Ethan. As an active musician, Mark likes to play guitar as much as possible and has released a variety of albums over the years.
