Black Student Union

Description

Black Student Union aims to foster a welcoming and supportive environment where students of color can freely share their opinions, ideas, and cultural heritage. It seeks to enhance understanding and appreciation of the histories, cultures, and issues pertinent to students of color through a variety of educational events, cultural celebrations, and open, engaging dialogues. Additionally, it is committed to advocating for and addressing issues that impact these students, striving to create a community that is inclusive and aware of diverse perspectives. Black Student Union wants to build a network between students of color on campus and the community around them through partnering through different BIPOC organizations with movie nights, youth Fridays and more.

CHAMP

Description

CHAMP is a student-run organization that plans and hosts exciting and spirit-filled events on campus each semester. All students are welcome to participate in CHAMP meetings and to volunteer as staff for CHAMP events. As a member of CHAMP, you are an integral part of the planning process–from brainstorming ideas to decorating and event execution. This club serves as a driving force for student involvement and engaging events! Our biggest celebrations of the year include: Spirit Week, the Halloween Dance, Late-Night Breakfast, the Snowball Dance, and Spring Meltdown.

Champlain College Esports

Description

Champlain Club/College Esports (CCE) is a student run club that looks to provide a space for gaming and esports for all Champlain students who are passionate about gaming culture. We look to push the limits of esports and engage all students in club events that are centered around social interaction, fun, and of course, gaming. Being diverse and inclusive are our objectives as we look to make esports available to everyone and accommodate any game a student(s) want to build a team for. CCE is focused on gaming, esports, and bringing together a community of individuals who are passionate about video games.

Champlain College Esports: Splatoon

Description

CCE Splatoon is a part of the Champlain College Esports club. We compete in CCA (Collegiate Cephalopod Association), the largest collegiate Splatoon league in the US. We also host community outreach events for Splatoon and Non-Splatoon players.

Champlain Outdoors

Description

The mission of our club is to foster a community of individuals who are eager to spend their time out in nature. Whether it be hiking across the rolling hills of Vermont’s Green Mountains in a sea of Fall colors, paddling through the lakes, creeks, and rivers of the New York Adirondacks, or gliding across the snow on one of many cross-country skiing trails, we are committed to getting you out there. Our trips vary in difficulty, ranging from casual day hikes simply meant for appreciating the beauty of the woods to strenuous treks that will be a true test of endurance and will. Regardless of whether you consider yourself to be a casual hiker or a rugged adventurer, there is something here for you.

Description

Greetings Loyal Imperial Citizen and welcome to the Champlain Wargaming Club! Our club is dedicated to all things tabletop wargaming, with a heavy focus on Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Crusades, painting nights, campaigns, skirmishes, and strategy theorycrafting are just a handful of the things we offer. Don’t have an army? Don’t know how to play? We have you covered! Darkroom Photography Club

Description

The Darkroom Club offers the student body an accessible way to explore the increasingly rare medium of analog photography. This club will introduce students to our beloved darkroom and teach them how to shoot, develop, and print their own photographs. Hearthlight Club

Description

The Hearthlight Club meets twice a week to engage in physical activities using foam props. The main activities include games such as capture the flag and red-light, green-light. The main priority of the club is everyone’s safety followed by inclusion and fun. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come participate or watch. It’s a great place to meet and talk to upperclassmen.

Include+

Description

Include+ hosts weekly gatherings for LGBTQ+ students and allies to come hang out, and monthly educational events to improve our understanding of LGBTQ+ topics (as well as possibly some additional activities on top of that). This club provides a safe, welcoming space for any student involved in the queer community. Some activities we have done at club meetings in the past include video games, board games, chess, PowerPoint presentation nights, pizza parties, and nail painting.

Los Dormant Volcanoes Improv Troupe

Description

We are Champlain College’s Improv Troupe! We hold auditions once per academic year near the start of the fall semester. Our style of improv performance is short-form comedy games. Troupe members are given prompts by the audience, and then we create hilarious scenes to watch and be a part of. We perform a few times a semester, so keep an eye out for our posters!

The Grind

Description

The Grind is an open mic coffee house that provides a safe space for people to express themselves through performance. The audience can relax, meet new people, and spend time with friends. Every Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 PM in Fireside Lounge, there is a player’s sheet; it’s first to sign-up, first to play. We have a sound system and an electric piano for acoustic music. There’s always snacks/coffee available. Our goals are to provide a safe environment for creative expression and creative community and to create an environment that develops and nurtures our performers.

Description

Women In Games (W.I.G.) is a club that was created to show the value that women, femme-identifying, non-binary professionals, and allies hold within the Game Studio at Champlain College. By providing its members with access to technology, and conducting professional development workshops with keynote guest speakers, there is an elimination of any barriers that may be held within the industry. W.I.G. at Champlain College works with two organizations, Women in Games International (W.I.G.I.) as well as the Women In Games (W.I.G.) based out of the UK. The Womxn in Technology Club offers a safe and supportive space for students who are considered minorities in the field of technology. While the club mainly focuses on the experiences of students who are minorities in regard to gender (female-identifying and gender non-conforming), all students are welcome. Diverse experiences and perspectives are what our club is all about! Join us for a mix of community building and technical nights, where we invite guest speakers, talk about different technologies folks are interested in, and do hands-on educational activities and labs.
