Champlain College welcomes those who have served our country in the military and their family members. We understand your unique needs and are here to help you succeed.
Whether you’re a military servicemember, veteran, or a spouse or dependent child, we’re here to support you throughout the entire process. Here are just a few ways we help you successfully transition from service member to student at Champlain College.
Champlain College has been named a Military Friendly School® and received a “Gold” ranking for 2023-2024 by VIQTORY for its commitment, effort and success in creating sustainable and meaningful opportunities for its military-connected students.
Training you received during your time in the Armed Forces can transfer to Champlain College credit. Transferring credit can accelerate your learning and lessen the amount of time it takes to get your undergraduate degree. Our Office of Military & Veteran Services will review your military transcripts for experience to determine transfer credit based on recommendations from the American Council on Education (ACE). Be sure to designate that your official transcripts are to be sent to Champlain College.
Students admitted through Champlain College Online may transfer in up to 90 credits toward their bachelor’s degree, leaving only 30 credits to earn (10 upper division-level courses). Transfer credit may be granted in a variety of ways, including for courses or training you received while in the military.
Qualified Veterans, military service members, and dependents have several benefit options that may be available to you – the most common being the G.I. Bill®. Champlain also accepts Military Tuition Assistance and VA “Top Up” tuition assistance for students wishing to use the Post 9/11 GI Bill® or Chapter 30 Montgomery GI Bill and MilTA together. Military tuition assistance should have final approval prior to the start of classes.
You must receive approval from your Education Services Officer (ESO) or education counselor prior to enrolling.
