Why Minor in Human Resource Management?

Beyond the day-to-day operations of hiring and payroll, the role of the Human Resource (HR) Manager is evolving, and HR professionals are taking on a broader challenge in helping organizations implement positive change in their workplaces.

Champlain’s 18-credit Human Resource Management & Organization Development minor will give you a greater understanding of the specific components involved in managing the heart of an organization-its people. In this minor you will:

  • Learn the basic principles and functions of management, including theory, planning and leadership.
  • Examine the best practices and legal requirements of recruiting and hiring new employees as well as developing and retaining current employees.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of the broad legal issues that arise within the workplace environment and employment relationships.
  • Learn the components and tools of strength-based assessments and positive organization development.
  • Build your résumé with an intensive, hands-on internship.
