Why Minor in Graphic Design?

Do you want to build a career that encourages creativity and combines art, communication, and problem-solving? Graphic Design might be the perfect complement to your major.

With a minor in Graphic Design, you’ll perfect your technical skills while learning how design impacts messaging and vice versa. You’ll explore the latest digital-image software in our Image Technology Course and learn how to create communication materials, like brochures and posters, in Design Solutions.

Champlain offers comprehensive professional preparation; you’ll learn what it’s like to collaborate with visual communication designers, marketers, and other team members to create a successful product.

Upon completion of this minor, you’ll be able to:

  • Recognize and apply aesthetic principles within non-original and original works, respectively.
  • Determine the mode(s) of production required to achieve a specific product and to demonstrate level-appropriate mastery of the skills, manual and/or digital, necessary to achieve those products.
  • Display a professional demeanor in managing time, materials, and information, as it reveals motivation, attitude, and work ethic.
  • Demonstrate the synthesis of learning from disparate fields into a tangibly synergistic form.
