Alumni Business Spotlight: Meet Kimberly DuBrul

Kimberly DuBrul ‘85 has been a significant member of the Champlain community since the moment she stepped on campus. From receiving numerous accolades as a student and an alum, to becoming the youngest alum to join the Champlain College Board of Trustees, to serving on multiple advisory boards and committees, Kimberly leads an inspiring commitment to both the Champlain and broader Vermont community.

As a successful VT-based entrepreneur with over 20 years in business, life, and mindset coaching, we asked her about her time at Champlain, her professional trajectory, and her business. Here’s what she said.

Q: Could you share a bit about your background and how your experience at Champlain College shaped your journey?

A: Originally from Springfield, VT, I came to Champlain not really knowing myself and not seeing my place in the greater world. Champlain, and most notably my devoted professors, helped to instill the entrepreneurial and can-do spirit and belief in myself. I grew my capacity to think big and was fully supported in it. 

Q: What inspired you to start your coaching business?

A: I created a successful real estate career at an early age. The exposure to personal growth and development I gained during that time led to my desire to become a business and whole life coach. I love helping others reach their goals. I just celebrated my 22nd year as a coach! I’ve been an entrepreneur since soon after graduation and wouldn’t have it any other way!

Q: Embarking on an entrepreneurial path is both exhilarating and challenging. What valuable lessons or advice would you offer to aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners?

A: Create a strong foundation of believing in yourself and find those people who will believe in you and encourage you. Ultimately, though, you must learn to trust yourself as this is your life to create and live. And always have a coach!
