Support Student Experiences This Giving Tuesday
On Giving Tuesday this year, Champlain College students are raising funds for hands-on, experiential learning opportunities. Show your support today by donating to their crowdsourcing campaigns.
Giving Tuesday is recognized as a day to give back after one of the biggest holiday spending weekends of the year–cue Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. This year, please consider supporting one of the following student groups aiming to increase opportunities that will further their college experiences and careers.
Anime Club
The Champlain College Anime Club is raising funds to help further its goal to promote the arts, spread awareness, and gain a better understanding of the anime industry and the decisions artists make in the creation process.
Black Student Union
The Champlain College Black Student Union is raising funds to take a group of students on a seven-day Civil Rights History Tour throughout Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia. The trip will include touring multiple legendary museums, meeting civil rights activists, and seeing cultural landmarks. Attending a predominately white institution can make it challenging to learn about black history, and this experience would provide a hands-on, up-close learning opportunity for Champlain students to explore history, music, art, food, and stories.
Creative Studio Dean’s Scholarship
The Creative Studio Dean’s Scholarship provides monetary support to students in our Creative Studio majors as part of the Division of Communication & Creative Media. Students often seek out monetary support for their projects, to attend professional conferences, and other extra-curricular activities related to their academic pursuits. For example, our filmmakers may seek support for props, clothing, and materials for their sets. Creative Media students often need additional materials and supplies for their projects or gallery exhibitions. For our students who face economic challenges, these things are often out of their reach.
DREAM Program
The DREAM mentorship program at Champlain College is a club that provides mentorship to children in grades K-12 from Birchwood Manor, a low-income community in Milton, Vermont. The club is raising funds to purchase essential winter gear like coats, snow boots, hats, and gloves for the kids. Some of the funds may also go toward the group’s end-of-year trip, where they take their mentees on a fun, new adventure that they otherwise would not have access to. Last year’s trip was to Six Flags in Massachusetts and for many of the kids, it was their first time out of state.
Game Developers Conference (GDC) Scholarship Fund by The Game Studio
The Game Studio is a group of seven programs from across the college that collaborate together as a community to make games. Each year, scholarships are awarded to select graduating seniors to attend the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco so they can engage in the professional world of game development, network, and look for open positions. This is a very expensive trip and you can help off set costs for students who otherwise would not be able to attend. Each student selected receives a $500 scholarship.
Stiller Women in Business
Stiller Women in Business is a student club committed to giving women and other marginalized communities within the business world a safe space to hang out and talk about classes and other activities on campus. Our goal is to explore, transform, and ignite the business world. Through the combined efforts of its members and leaders in the business community, Stiller Women strengthens students’ professional expertise and positively impacts their careers and society. Funds raised will go toward the group’s semi-annual networking events.
Can’t donate today but still want to support these student projects? Campaigns are open through mid-December! We appreciate you and thank you for your support.
