Students work in one of the top study spots on campus: A room with large windows overlooking the lake and mountains.
Miller Information Commons has countless study spots to choose from, including the Vista Room that overlooks Lake Champlain.

1. Miller Information Commons

Between the study rooms, massage chairs, and third-floor balcony and views, you can’t beat visiting Champlain’s library, Miller Information Commons, for all your study needs. Each spot in the library offers something different. There are private areas set up for individual work, rooms for group projects, computers to use, research and academic coaching sessions to take advantage of, and an Interfaith Room. The library staff is available from 8 AM to 11 PM to help you find the best sources for your work. Pro tip: Check out the Vista Room on the third floor!

Fireside Lounge is located on the second floor of the IDX Student Life Center, across from the dining hall.

2. Fireside Lounge

Fireside Lounge has to be the coziest room at Champlain. It’s equipped with a warm fireplace and a bunch of comfy chairs. Prefer to use a desk? There’s a long high-top counter with chairs lined up for you. Craving a snack or some lunch? The IDX Dining Hall is right across the way, giving you the ability to duck in and out without leaving your homework for too long. It’s a great place to run into friends!

Students gather on the steps in Rozendaal Courtyard, a top study spot on campus.
The steps in Rozendaal Courtyard are not only a great study spot, but also a place for students to gather—like for the Global Climate Strike in fall 2019.

3. Rozendaal Courtyard Steps

The large steps in Rozendaal Courtyard are a nice study spot to check out during the warm months. Soak up some fresh air as you think through your work. It’s a great place to wave hello to classmates and favorite professors while soaking up some sunshine. Don’t forget your sunscreen! Or, maybe you’re brave enough to bundle up and hang out on the steps during the breezier months.

The tables outside the SD Ireland Family Center for Global Business and Technology are a great spot to get some work done.

4. Ireland Picnic Tables

Another favorite place for students to study during the warmer months is the picnic tables outside of the SD Ireland Family Center for Global Business and Technology building. The tables are perfect to seat three or four students, or you can go there alone if you prefer some quiet study time. There are spots for shade or sun, and sometimes you’ll even see squirrels darting back and forth under the trees. If the picnic tables are full, there are more just across the way outside EATS, in Rozendaal Courtyard.

EATS Lounge is located on the third floor of the Center for Communication & Creative Media.

5. EATS Lounge

Pick up a snack from one of our on-campus eateries, Zime or CRU5H, before meeting up with group members or your favorite study buddy in EATS Lounge. Visit Zime in the morning to get a nice hot latte to prepare for the day. Or, visit CRU5H in the evening to pick up a cheeseburger with your favorite toppings. On a warm day, you can even venture out onto the terrace for a quick study break. If there are tables available, stay for a while!
